framed loft

september 2025, wabi sabi

This double-volume home is designed as a refined urban residence where vertical space and controlled lighting define the overall experience. The living area is framed by a full-height structural portal that visually separates zones while maintaining openness, allowing light to travel freely through the interior. A compact lounge sits beneath the upper level, anchored by a wall-mounted TV console with concealed storage that keeps the footprint visually light. The staircase becomes a sculptural feature, with integrated step lighting and flush detailing that enhances depth and movement while reinforcing the home’s architectural rhythm. Above, the mezzanine level overlooks the living space, strengthening the connection between levels without compromising privacy.

Throughout the home, the design prioritises clarity, function, and warmth through restrained finishes and thoughtful spatial planning. The kitchen is organised as a clean, linear workspace with integrated appliances, seamless cabinetry, and an extended counter that doubles as a casual dining surface. Display niches and storage walls are carefully composed with soft backlighting, allowing personal objects to be showcased without visual clutter. In the private areas, work and rest zones are subtly integrated through built-in desks, wardrobes, and layered lighting that supports daily routines. Together, these elements create a cohesive interior that balances compact living with vertical openness, offering a calm, timeless environment suited to contemporary city life.
